An animated stop motion puppet film produced by the SEALS (patients) at the Olivia Newton John Wellness Centre’s, Art Therapy Wednesday Open Studio class.

The film explores the idea of ‘ONENESS’, a feeling of belonging, and the healing power of love within a holistic group consciousness. Integrating a vocalized poem with a freshly composed musical track, this project was created from a place of love, acceptance, non-judgment and joy.

One Plus One = ONE, tells the story of our protagonist, the ‘Goddess of Oneness’, who travels across the planes uniting all life forms together as ONE. Our Goddess embarks on a journey across four scenes representing the four basic elements, ‘FIRE, WATER, AIR and EARTH’. The ancients believed that these elements were needed to create life, but only with the quintessential fifth element, life force, the spirit of the human self.

Our Goddess portrays – the god within us all, hence the film explores the notion that everything is related and we are all interconnected. Rumi’s Poem ‘The Great Wagon’ is spoken throughout the film, as it is indicative of the story the art group was forming.

It also expresses the strong connections that were being made in the class during the making of the puppets. The sets used in the film were constructed using a mix of mediums such as fabric, painted canvases, rocks, flowers and branches. The music therapist was engaged to help the group write and record a song for the film. What you are witnessing is a product borne of a sentiment of ‘oneness’, about the very ideal of what “oneness” is?

A Great Wagon
“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and right doing, there is a field.
I’ll meet you there.
When the soul lies down in that grass, the world is too full to talk about.
Ideas, language, even the phrase “each other” doesn’t make any sense.
The breeze at dawn has secrets to tell you.
Don’t go back to sleep.
You must ask for what you really want.
Don’t go back to sleep.
People are going back and forth across the doorsill where the two worlds touch.
The door is round and open.
Don’t go back to sleep.”
